The paper how the CPU

PREFACE

Thanks to the presence of Allah SWT for His mercy and grace of his paper entitled "Central Processing Unit (CPU)" can be completed on time.
Our success in the writing of this paper must not be separated from the support of various parties. For that we say thank you to all those who have helped the completion of this paper.
I realize that in writing this paper is still far from perfect and there are still many shortcomings that still need to be improved, therefore, we expect a constructive suggestions for the perfection of this paper, so it can be beneficial to anyone who reads it.

PART I
INTRODUCTION

1. Background Central Processing Unit (CPU)
A CPU (Central Processing Unit) or often simplified into a language the processor, the digital components of a computer, which translates the instructions of a computer program and dedicated to processing data. CPU equips digital computers so that they can be programmed, and CPU (along with primary storage and facility input / output) is an important component in all future development of computers. A CPU is built as one integrated component known as the microprocessor (microprocessor).
In the early to mid 1970s, gradually replaced by the old microprocessor microprocessor design more complex and capable of higher count, and now the term "CPU" is usually addressed to several types of microprocessors. The term "central processing unit" is actually a picture of a certain logic class of machine that executes computer programs. This broad definition has been applied to many computers long before the term "CPU" famous as now. However, the term has been used on a per-computer industry at least since the late 1960s (Weik 1961). Shape, design and implementation of CPUs have changed dramatically since the beginning of the launch, but the operation remains essentially the same.

2. Problem Formulation
1. What does the term Central Processing Unit (CPU)?
2. How does the CPU?

3. Purpose
1. knowing understanding Central Processing Unit (CPU)
2. Knowing how CPU

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
1. Definition of CPU
Microprocessor is a component (usually physical manifestation in the form of chips) contained in a computer system that serves as the central processing unit or data processing and istruksi. In coarse language often termed as & lsquo; brain & rsquo; computer. This microprocessor is generally installed on the motherboard. Writing said microprocessor often abbreviated & micro; P or uP. The term microprocessor is also known by the name of the processor or CPU (central processing unit).
This processor is made of silicon chip which contains millions of transistors and other circuit mini on top of a semiconductor integrated circuit. During this time, the development of microprocessors known to follow Moore's law. This law made by Gordon Moore in 1965. At that time, Moore predicted that the number of transistors that of the IC (Integrated Circuit) will double every year, and formulate that calculation power will double every 18 months. This statement is updated by Moore in 1995, based on the findings that multiple double the number of transistors will occur every two years. The law is really happening and proven since the early 1970s. So performance komputerpun increased from year to year.
Moore's law may not be valid beyond, when observing the development of the current processor that law seems to apply only for a limited time.
Components Processors
Class of x86 processor that is used for PCs, usually consists of several key components, among others:
o The control unit, which is part of the charge of organizing the course of the program.
o Unit of execution, ie the part that perform operations on data that consists of:
& Sect; ALU (Arithmetic Logical Unit = Unit Logic and Arithmetic). This component serves as a place to process data by manipulating information and evaluate the results. ALU can perform specific operations, such as addition, multiplication, subtraction, and others.
& Oslash; ALU itself consists of device-small memory device known as registers. At this registers the information stored for data processing is in progress.
& Oslash; ALU also consist of circuits to evaluate the information. For example, adder and comparator, which manipulate the data according to instructions programmed
& Sect; FPU (Floating Point Unit). This component serves to process the data in the form of floating point numbers.
o A list that can be used to accommodate the data and calculation results are not yet finished to perfection. This component is sometimes contained in the CPU, but not all.
The internal memory of the CPU, usually in the form of cache, often referred to as cache memory. Nowadays, modern processors already include this component. While the old processors, many do not have it. How it works Processors, functions such as a calculator, only with data processing capabilities far greater.
Its main function is to perform arithmetic and logical operations on the data.Data retrieved from memory or obtained from input devices operated by the operator such as a keyboard (keyboard), mouse and others. The processor is controlled by a set of software instructions.

2. How it works
How it works is a micro processor machine running a set of instructions that tell the processor what to do. Based on the instruction, microprocessor does three basic things:
1) Using ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) to perform mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Modern microprocessor containing a floating point unit that can perform highly complex operations on large numbers.
2) Moving data from one memory location to another location.
3) Make decisions and jump to another instruction appropriate decision.
In a simple way of working prossesor point is receiving good feedback or order entry of a mouse, keyboard or use another penginput connected data or process the data and then translate the command to later issued / forward its output to the hardware or software related.

CHAPTER III
CLOSING

1. Conclusion
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit is. CPU is responsible for performing all of the necessary mathematical calculations by computer in order to function properly. Because the computer can not function without the CPU (which may also be referred to as a central processor or just the processor alone), not uncommon to hear people refer to the CPU as the "brains" of a computer. In the CPU takes place the various processes that begins with an input and the CPU will be in the process of becoming an information we want. So even with the way the CPU: the instruction pointer directs fetch instructions to a spot in memory that holds an instruction. Fetch then caught them and gave instructions to the instruction decoder, then observe the instructions and determine the next steps to complete the instruction (an instruction can consist of a series of steps that must be completed in a certain order).
2. Suggestions
CPU is the brain of a computer. If one part of the CPU is damaged, it can be ascertained that the performance of the computer also can not be maximized.
